Hey people!

Went to SINGOUT! 2008 just now with Surithi Joy, Jasmine Koh, and Vivien Soh! It was SPECTACULAR! After watching the concert, I miss my choir days in Primary school. Ahh. Nostalgia. T_T

Anyway, for those of you who did not attend the concert, then you should continue reading! For those of you who did attend the concert, well you should continue reading to see if your opinion is same as mine. Ahaha.

Title: SingOut! 2008
Participating Schools: Presbyterian High, Holy Innocents' High, St. Gabriel's.
Review:

Combined Choirs - Heart Of Worship
This is a great choice for an opening song. It was heartwarming and definitely welcoming, in a sense. Overall, the balance was pretty good. I give this song: 4/5 stars.

Presbyterian High School - Gaudeamus
Just a catchy song with catchy tune and a catchy rhythm. This song will definitely catch your attention. Balance was not bad. Although Jovi got me mixed up about the SATB parts. Haha. 4/5!

Presbyterian High School - Salmo 150
Was a hard song. Definitely hard. It was equivalent of Band's Scootin'. Haha. Articulation was the key. And tempo too. But couldn't really hear the basses. Especially the introduction. But it was a great attempt by PHS choir! (: 3/5!

St. Gabriel's Sec Sch - Kaze Ni Naritai
Was fantabulous. It's nice to know that although you don't know the meaning of the words, you still get the feeling through music. Hence, music in the language of the universe. Can't really remember if there was any solos, but St. Gabs' voices are nice! The way they sing has also emotions in it. Great song! 4/5!

St. Gabriel's Sec Sch - Were You There
It was also emotional and this song showed the colors of the TTBB choir. This shows that even if you just have guys, you still can make the song very emotional and moving. Again, the saints did an excellent job. 4/5!

Holy Innocents' High School - Blessed Peace
This song was quite nice, especially portrayed by a huge choir. Yeah, HIHS's choir is pretty huge. So they managed to pull it off! Great job! But on the contrary, the song made me yawn abit. But I still enjoyed it! (: 3/5!

Holy Innocents' High School - Dance of the Sugar-plium Fairy
This was a nicer song compared to the previous one. It was much more catchy and it can catch the audience's attention. The song sounds familliar though. It sounded like those soundtracks. Hm. But overall, it was fantastic. 4/5!

Presbyterian High School Alumni - How Deep Is Your Love
AHH! This song is just so nice and it's a very warm song. The alumni managed to pull it off well. Especially with solos and a beatboxer. Haha. Totally great job! Now I'm not sure if I like this one or the saxophone version better. Hahaha. 5/5!

Combined Leaders Item - The Phantom Of The Opera Medley
Familliar eh? Yep. Band played this song before. We have the score! Lol. It was a very nice rendition of The Phantom. Finally I know the lyrics of the song. I was just humming it just now. Hahaha. 4/5!

Combined Choir (TTBB) - Child Of God
This song sounds so familliar, especially the introduction. But it was a great performance! Very meaningful song, and the voices managed to send across the message. Haha. 4/5!

Interval

Combined Choir (SSAA) - Cumana
This song just made me go WOW! Especially with Suian dancing. She can do the rump/chacha/tango/ whatever that dance is called damn nice! It's really impressive! Haha, although the skirts looks like curtains! Haha. 5/5!

Special Item: St. Gab Sec 3s - You'll be in my heart
Simply magnificent. The balance was good. The soloists were great (*coughs and winks at councilmates*). Can see that they don't sing for the sake of singing. They sing, for passion. (: Great job saints! 5/5!

Special Item: HIHS Sec 3s - Breakaway
Very touching song. It was really nice to hear this song as a choral performance. But I think HIHS also lacks of Sec 3 guys. Coz there were only like 3 - 4? Lol. (: Great job HIHS! 4/5!

Special Item: PHS Sec 3s - I Sing You Sing
This song really sounded fun and interesting. The emcee (Crystal Ong!) said that it was a remake of a jazz piece? So it attracted my attention. Lol. 4/5! Jiayou seniors!

Holy Innocents' High School - Counting Song
This is the most interesting song of the whole concert. The title says it all. The lyrics of the song just goes from 1 to 100. It's damn cool!!! I give it 6/5!!!! Hahaha.

St. Gabriel's Secondary School - Any Dream Will Do
This song is also quite fun! Some more with all the soloists *cough at councilmates again* Then their actions are really damn hillarious. Hahahahaha. 5/5!

Presbyterian High School - Every Move I Make
This song totally reminds me of Shine Jesus Shine + Shout Your Fame. Hahahahaha. Great song though. Their dance moves were nice. Hahaha. 4/5! Oh, and Suian was at the front again. Hahaha.

Surprise Song for Principal Mrs Carolin Tan - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Very touching song. According to them it was Mrs Tan favourite song? Lol. Great soli by choir presidents. Yeah, the song can really send me to tears. T_T 5/5.

Surprise Song for Teacher I/C Ms Serene Ng - ???
A surprise performance by St Gabs. Really touching song too! But emcee wasn't really clear. Maybe they didn't know about it. 4/5. T_T

Combined Choir - O Sifuni Mungu
Great song! Jovi has made me addicted to this song. Hahaha. Even the moves are fun. Haha. 5/5!

FINALE - SINGOUT!
Catchy catchy song! It's still stuck in my head. Very fun though. Also very AriseShine. Haha. Can see the memebrs really enjoying. Haha. 5/5!

Overall, SingOut was a great concert and it should have not been missed! I'm not sure that there'll be more SingOuts, but according to rumours, this is the last SingOut? Haha. If there is, I will definitely go and support!

Okay, it's Firdaus outz!@@@

Synopsis: Being in their senior year, the Wildcats face one of the greatest challenge in life, seperation after years together. The first scene started off with a zoomed up of Troy Bolton. He was panting as the clock for the first half of the match was ticking. For the second half of the match, they were high spirited.

During the preparation of the Senior Year Spring Musical, where seniors and more had to perform a musical about their life in the senior year. But before the musical started, Gabriella was offered early orientation at Stanford University. Will she leave for this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity at Stanford University or will she finish the dance she started at East High? Stay tuned.

This movie is filled with songs, dance, laughter, and happiness, but it also has its twist of dilemma and depression. Compared to the two of its predecessors, this movie is less predictable and has more elements of betrayal and mistrust, and of course, their main problem, seperation.

Response: Personally, I think that the original was much better than this movie. Although this movie is different compared to its predecessors, it was filled with loopholes and characters that does not make an impact in the storyline, making them completely redundant. The songs in this movie too has not been on par compared to its predecessors.

Characters such as the newcomers Tiara and Jimmie has totally redundant to the storyline. Tiara is like a 2nd-class Sharpay who seems much nicer. But somehow the actress doesn't seem bitchy enough. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. And Jimmie, on the other hand, seems like an imitation of Troy. He has that lunkhead basketball hairstyle and is probably going to be the captain of the team next year. His only main point is that he replaced Troy when he wasn't there and that Sharpay was pissed off. That's all.

The song, I Want It All performed by Ryan and Sharpay has elements of Stick to the Status Quo and Fabulous. It has more of that theatre song rather than a catchy song. Infact, most of the songs in this movie are ballads or theatre and not for you to tap your feet to.

But on the other hands, remaking a ballad version of We're All In This Together is not such a bad thing and its quite pleasing to the ears. The final song, named High School Musical is one of the, if not the most, nicest song in the movie.

Of course, some ballads are great, like Can I Have This Dance, and Just Wanna Be With You, and Right Here, Right Now. It is refreshing to hear these ballads rather than the usual ones you hear.

But overall, this movie is rather refreshing and different from High School Musical 1 and 2. It is based on a rather touching storyline, especially for me.

Rate: 3/5.
Favourite Song: High School Musical, Just Wanna Be With You, Now Or Never.
Favourite Quote:
Ryan: (choreographing) Just hold her hand like this and turn.
Troy: Man, you're much easier to dance with than she is.
Favourite Actor: Kelsi Nielsen! She's da best!
